Crosby Leisure Centre, Crosby

16 Petxina fittings were specified to light the car park in front of Crosby Leisure Centre when the architect realised that the sea shell-like shape of Petxina was very similar to the form of the building seen from above. The fittings therefore blend perfectly with the very unusual architectural style of this modern building.

A mixture of asymmetric and street light distributions with 250W metal halide lamps are used to achieve an even illumination without any light spillage onto neighbouring residential areas. This had been a very sensitive issue with residents during the building phase, which was resolved so successfully that the builders, G+J Seddon, took the trouble to phone the Holophane sales engineer in charge of the project, Colin Shockledge, to tell him how impressed they were with the cut-off.
