Holophane's Denver Sweep Announced as Approved Luminaire for Central Milton Keynes
As part of the major refurbishment of lighting within Central Milton Keynes, Holophane Europe's Denver Sweep
fitting has been chosen as an approved luminaire for Boulevards and Gates (main city thoroughfares), throughout the city centre.Holophane worked closely with the Milton Keynes Partnership's (MKP) consultants, Pell Frischmann to develop Denver Sweep, a luminaire that met the specific guidelines of the project. The luminaire is extremely energy efficient, reducing the required lamp wattage from 150w to 100w and it is also 'night time friendly', putting the light where it is needed without any upward spillage.
MKP is playing a pivotal role in driving and delivering the creation of a city centre of international importance, such is Milton Keynes Council's vision of 21st Century urban living. To ensure that public realms are designed to the highest quality and specification, a handbook has been published in a joint venture between MKP and Milton Keynes Council. This provides guidance on the design and specification of streets, ground surfaces, street furniture, lighting and landscaping.
In the section under lighting, the Denver Sweep has been identified as an approved unit for use on all Boulevards and Gates at 8m mounting heights within CMK, following a successful trial of 50 Denver Sweep luminaires on Avebury Boulevard.
As part of the Denver family of exterior light fittings, Denver Sweep has evolved from post top into a post and bracket luminaire with a more finished appearance and a simple 'swept' profile. The impressive performance expected from the IP65 rated Denver luminaire remains the same; a precision-engineered aluminium reflector optimises the light distribution whilst the highly controlled, directional illumination of the Denver Pole reduces light pollution and glare. Lamp options include ceramic and standard metal halide, high pressure sodium and energy saving compact fluorescent twin lamps.
